Welcome To the Windows section of the Support
Site:
FTP
- The first step is to dial in and establish a connection!! (We can't
stress this on enough!)
- Double click on the icon for the FTP program.
- If this is the first time that you have started the program, please
type in your email address (this is used during the login process by the
program)
- Once you have the program open the Connect screen will come up
automatically.
- This setup is for an anonymous login. This will allow you the
privilege of downloading files from Airstream (these are often update
files to Airstream programs as well as little goodies here and there!)
This will not allow you to go to your home directory and place your web
site and its individual files. Please see the section regarding setting
up the FTP program to upload your web related items.
- Use the following reference picture to type in your settings on the
screen. Once you have the settings typed in, click on the Save button.
That way you can call up this connection whenever you want to connect to
Airstream
- Click on OK to begin the connection. Once you are connected you can
begin to explore the contents of the Airstream FTP site. Simply
double-click on the names of the directories in the upper right hand
corner of the FTP program. The best place to start is by double-clicking
on the /pub directory and then double-clicking on the /software
directory. Many file updates and other programs are located here.
- To download a file, simply click on the name of the file in the lower
right hand side window and choose a directory on the left hand side to
download the files into. Remember: the files on the left hand side are
those in your computer and those on the right are the remote computer's
(in this case, it's Airstream) Once you have the file selected on the
right-hand side, simply click on the left arrow to begin the transfer
down to your computer! This works the same with ANY other FTP site that
you connect to.
